German-born American abstract expressionist painter Hans Hofmann created this mosaic located along the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in Hell's Kitchen. Hofmann is one of the most important figures of postwar American art. His works of art are in the collection of some of the world's most important museums which include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, the MoMA, the SFMoMA, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art amongst others.
