Bob Cassilly. "Hippo Playground"
Sculptor and museum director Bob Cassilly created the hippopotamus in one of the most visited playground of the Upper West Side and the Riverside Park's system, Hippo Playground. The park does not only have several hippos in various positions all around the playground but also a few other animals. These include a green frog, a rock structure where rats, mice, snakes, and a variety of turtles can be seen coming in and out of it as well as a flat rock structure where a snapping turtle is located. This snapping turtle is very familiar to the one in Katharine Hepburn's Garden. These are not Cassilly's only hippo sculptures since there are other hippos located in Central Park as well.
