Greg Wyatt. "Peace Fountain"

At the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the famous Peace Fountain is located which is a must see in Morningside Heights. The impressive fountain is a recent 1985 sculpture by sculptor-in-residence of the cathedral Greg Wyatt. The sculpture depicts the battle of Archangel Michael and Satan, whose head can be seen hanging off a claw. The fountain includes a sculpture but no water whatsoever. The base of the fountain also features animals and mythical creatures. More info: Greg Wyatt's website

Julie Harvey. "Liberty Mural"

Next to Louise Nevelson Plaza where one of the first set of sculptures we ever presented, there is a wonderful mural created by Julia Harvey called Liberty Mural. The mural originated as an oil painting and celebrates the history of Lower Manhattan. The location of the mural is also where Thomas Jefferson's Manhattan residence once stood. Mary Miss, Stanton Eckstut, and Susan Child. "South Cove"

The South Cove in Battery Park is a joint design by environmental artist Mary Miss, architect Stanton Eckstut and landscape artist Susan Child. The South Cove is made up of a tower that has a staircase built into the structure and allows one to see a panoramic view of the area. There are also many rocks and plants that have been placed in this area to give it the unique look and feel that it has.

Albino Manca. "East Coast Memorial"

Italian sculptor Albino Manca created this eagle sculpture which is part of the East Coast Memorial. The memorial is dedicated to those US service men who lost their lives in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean. The 19 foot pylons were created by  Gehron & Seltzer and inscribed are 4,609 names. The memorial was dedicated by President John F. Kennedy and is administered by the American Battle Monuments Commission. 

Barry Flanagan. "Young Elephant"

Welsh sculptor Barry Flanagan created this sculpture that is located in the arched galleria of the AXA Center. The Young Elephant shows an elephant with a hare on top. The hare also appears in other sculptures by Flanagan. Across this sculpture in side the galleria is another one of Flanagan's sculptures Hare on Bell. More info: Barry Flanagan's website

Hans Hofmann. "Untitled"

German-born American abstract expressionist painter Hans Hofmann created this mosaic located along the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in Hell's Kitchen. Hofmann is one of the most important figures of postwar American art. His works of art are in the collection of some of the world's most important museums which include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, the MoMA, the SFMoMA, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art amongst others. As a teacher, he was able to inspire and teach some of the most important artists that came out during the 60s period. More info: Hans Hofmann's website

Early Aviation Monument in Governors Island

A monument was created in Governors Island to celebrate the great achievements made in early military aviation on this island. The Early Aviation Monument recognizes the success of many aviation pioneers like the Wright Brothers whoseStatue of Liberty flight was the first over-water flight . The bronze propeller is cast from one of the Wright Brothers' wooden propellers.

J.V. & R.V. Lamb. "Salvation Army Monument"

Architects J.V. & R.V. Lamb created this monument to honor General William Booth the founder of the Salvation Army. Although listed as The Salvation Army Monument in the NYC Parks website, it is often known as the General William Booth Memorial as well. This monument is hidden by trees and shrubs next to Luis Sanguino's The Immigrants in Battery Park next to Clinton Castle.

Jan Peter Stern. "Windward"

Outside of the 655 Third Avenue building on the sidewalk of East 42nd Street is located a peculiar sculpture titled Windward by Berlin-born sculptor Jan Peter Stern. The sculpture is permanently installed outside of the building since 1961. Stern is known for his large public sculptures located in conjunction to buildings and their plazas throughout New York City, San Francisco, and Chicago. Many of his works are also exhibited at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington D.C. 

Francis Upritchard. "The Seduction"

New Zealand artist Francis Upritchard created this very small sculptures of two bronze monkeys for the Lilliput exhibition. The exhibition is currently being held at The High Line until April 14, 2013. The small sculpture is unique to Upritchard's style as much of her other sculptures yet this one remains bronze while many of her sculptures are extremely colorful. 

Barry Flanagan. "Hare on Bell"

In the arched galleria of the AXA Center, one of the most memorable sculptures by Welsh sculptor Barry Flanagan is located. The Hare on Bell is  an iconic piece of art that can be seen from the Royal Academy of Arts to Portland Stone Piers. The hare also appears in other sculptures by Flanagan. Piccirilli Brothers. "Bushwick War Memorial"

In East Williamsburg, a small gated triangular park called Memorial Gore is located with a small memorial inside. The Piccirilli Brothers created this memorial to honor all those soldiers of this neighborhood who lost their lives during World War I. The design of the eagle standing on top of a ball can also be seen in the Woodlawn Heights War Memorial, which is another Piccirilli Brothers' memorial. The Piccirilli Brothers are well known for their historical monuments such as the Abraham Lincoln Monument and several memorials in NYC which include the Firemen's Memorial and Maine Monument.

Greg Wyatt. "Noah's Ark"

Next to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the famous Peace Fountain is located and right in its circle base one can see Noah's Ark. Greg Wyatt is the sculptor-in-residence of the cathedral and created the Peace Fountain in addition to this small bronze sculpture of Noah's Ark. Youkee Nishida. "Never Ending Art of Patience"

For a few years now, we've been noticing chalk drawings all around Battery Park. Theses colorful chalk drawings have been created by Youkee Nishida as part of his own brand named Art De Genki. The chalk drawings seen above are located right behind the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. More info: Youkee Nishida's website
