American sculptor Peter Woytuk has an extensive exhibition along the Broadway Mall from Columbus Circle to Harlem. The exhibition will be on view from October 21, 2011 until April 27, 2012 and is made possible thanks to the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and The Morrison Gallery. Kristin Jones & Andrew Ginzel. "Metronome"


The American artist team of Kristin Jones & Andrew Ginzel created this art installation which leaves many tourists amazed by what it is counting down, why smoke comes out from the orb of the wand, and basically what is the meaning of it.  Metronome was commissioned by Related Companies with the help of Public Art Fund and the Municipal Art Society. The art installation is made of many pieces. First is the clock which shows the time in 24 hour format in the first six slots on the left with the other time slots starting from the right show also in 24 hour format how much more time there will be left before the day is over in reverse format. Second is the infinity and the source  which is the wand like object and the golden aura where smoke comes out of. Third is the relic which consists of a hand at the top. This hand is a replica of the hand of the Equestrian George Washington sculpture located in front of it. More info: Jones & Ginzel's joint website

Henry Kirke Brown. "Equestrian George Washington"


Historic American equestrian sculptor Henry Kirke Brown created this sculpture of the United States' first president. This is the first public sculpture and second equestrian sculpture in America since the imposed King George III sculpture during colonial times. This historic sculpture is permanently installed in the entrance on Union Square Park and continues to be the influence of many works or art.

Bryan Hunt. "Charioteer"


American Modernist sculptor Bryan Hunt currently has an exhibition in the Park Avenue Malls entitled Bryant Hunt on Park Avenue that are based on his Waterfall series. This sculpture is from this exhibition that runs from August 29 until November 18, 2011. The exhibition has been made possible thanks to the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and The Fund for Park Avenue. More info: Bryan Hunt's website

Chaim Gross. "Mother Playing"


Austrian born American sculptor Chaim Gross created this sculpture that is permanently placed in the Fordham Garden, which is on the top part of Fordham Law and part of Fordham University's Lincoln Center Campus. Gross was inspired by acrobats and motions of human and this can be seen in his sculptures. There is an identical sculpture as this one also created by Gross that is installed in the Judaean hills of Israel.

Romero Britto. "New York Future"


Brazilian Neo-Pop artist Romero Britto created this apple sculpture which was part of the 2004 Big Apple Fest where hundreds of these apples decorated by various artists were placed throughout the city. This sculpture is apparently permanently located at the Atrium of the IBM Building. More info: Romero's Britto's website

John Quincy Adams Ward. "The Pilgrim"


Historic sculptor John Quincy Adams Ward was commissioned to create this statue of a pilgrim to commemorate the landing of the pilgrim fathers on Plymouth Rock. The bronze statue is set atop a pedestal created by prominent American architect Richard Morris Hunt, who created pedestals for many mansions in Manhattan as well as the Statue of Liberty. The sculptor of this piece is best known for his life size George Washington statue in Wall Street. This sculpture is permanently stationed in Pilgrim Hill inside of Central Park's Great Lawn.

Maki Kaoru. "Half Awake, Half Asleep"


Visual artist and photographer Maki Kaoru created this piece as part of the Downtown Alliance's Re:Construction art project in which they are beautifying construction and public areas. Basically certain areas in Downtown Manhattan are going through construction or are abandoned and instead of seeing wooden panels with Do Not Post Signs Here written on them, several artists have created these plastic art works that will cover these construction projects while providing a better look to the city. Tony Rosenthal. "Alamo"


American abstract sculptor Tony Rosenthal created this sculpture that is permanently installed in Astor Place. This cube has become one of the most recognizable features of Lower Manhattan. The sculpture is very similar to many of Rosenthal's other cubes. Jessica Verde from Ann Arbor, Michigan sent us her sculpture contribution:

American abstract sculptor Tony Rosenthal created this sculpture which is very similar to his other cubes. As Jessica pointed out to us the plaque names the sculpture Cube while Rosenthal's website officially names it Endover.  The sculpture permanently stands in the University of Michigan's Regents' Plaza in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Peter Johnson, Wes Willard, Nathan Jackson, Leo Jacobs, T. Jimmie and Carl Heinmiller. "Totem Pole"


Artists Peter Johnson, Wes Willard, Nathan Jackson, Leo Jacobs, T. Jimmie and Carl Heinmiller carved this totem pole, which ironically was titled the same based on Lehman College Art Gallery's records. This totem pole was permanently installed in 1964 in the Bronx Zoo near the bears. It is not to be confused with the recent totem pole that was placed near the entrance of the zoo in 2002.

Giulio Candussio. "Saetta Iridescente"


Italian art designer Giulio Candussio created this mosaic that is installed underground in the World Trade Center Path Train Station. The mosaic was made by the Friuli Mosaic School of Italy and is a personal gift to New York City from Italy to commemorate the 9/11 attacks. The mosaic in itself is a demonstration of the earthquake that occurred in Friuli in 1976. More info: Giulio Candussio's website

Tony Rosenthal. "Rondo"


American abstract sculptor Tony Rosenthal created this sculpture that was originally installed at 110 East 59th Street. The sculpture is one of a few public sculptures by Rosenthal in Manhattan. This sculpture was commissioned by Jack Resnick & Sons Inc. It is currently installed at the New York Public Library Branch at East 58th Street. More info: Tony Rosenthal's website

Romero Britto. "Best Buddies Friendship Bear"


Brazilian Neo-Pop artist Romero Britto created this sculpture for the Best Buddies International organization. There are also two other sculptures which can be seen to the sides of the bear. The sculptures are available for sale. More info: Romero's Britto's website

Dan Colen's Mural Design for the Details Guild Wall


American artist Dan Colen is the recent designer for the ever changing Details Guild Wall located at West 13th and Washington St. His design was composed of a white background with black bold letters stating OH GOD! The artist, in collaboration with The Whitney Museum's Youth Insight program, teamed up with students to deface his own mural, which is what can be seen in these pictures. The Details Guild Wall is a mural that is constantly changing whenever a new artist is invited to provide their own design on the wall. More info: The Details Guild Wall's website

Gaston Lachaise. "La Montagne"


French-born American sculptor Gaston Lachaise created this sculpture which is graciously being exhibited at Tramway Plaza thanks to Frelinghuysen-Morris House and Studio as well as the Lachaise Foundation. Lachaise who was active during the early 20th century is noted for his female nudes such as this one, but mostly remembered for his Standing Woman. This sculpture, which is number two in an edition of five, will be on view from September 23, 2011 until April 1, 2012. More info: The Lachaise Foundation's website

Robert K. Otani. "Transformative Kayak"


Artist Robert K. Otani created this sculpture as part of the Figment 2011 Sculpture Garden. The sculpture garden ran from May 27 until September 25, 2011. The sculpture garden was made possible thanks to NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and Figment NYC.
