John Ahearn. "Bronx Residents" 1 of 3
Today, I start a three-part series based on three famous sculptures by John Ahearn that do not seem to have a definite title. I figured it would be better to keep them together posted one day at a time instead of what I have previously done with other artist's works. The controversy that surrounds these sculptures is that they were commissioned for and were placed in front of a newly built Bronx Police Station, and community leaders became angered by the appearance of these sculptures. They believed it portrayed a negative image of residents in the South Bronx. Story continues tomorrow.
