Lu Chun-Hsiung. "Dr. Sun Yat-sen"
Famous Taiwanese sculptor Lu Chun-Hsiung designed this statue which was donated temporarily to NYC by the the Republic of China (Taiwan). The statue is of Dr. Sun Yat-sen who was the leader of the Chinese Revolution and lived in NYC's Chinatown where the statue is currently on view. The statue celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China. The pedestal of the statue was created by local architect Michael Kang thanks to donations by the Chinese-American community of NYC. The statue is made possible thanks to NYC Dept. of Parks and the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) of NY and will on view from Nov. 12 2011 - Nov. 12 2012.
