Luis Sanguino. "The Immigrants"
Sculptor Luis Sanguino was commissioned by Samuel Rudin to create this massive bronze sculpture of immigrants reaching New York City. The sculpture was made to honor not only the many immigrants that passed through Castle Clinton in present day Battery Park but also Rudin's parents. The sculpture includes a worker, a priest, a freed African slave, a Jew, and an Eastern European. The sculpture is one of the most recognized pieces in all of Battery Park.
