Switzerland-born American sculptor Berthold Nebel created several bas-relief panels at the Hispanic Society of America. In total, there are nine panels representing Celt, Primitive Man, Roman, Carthaginian, Arab, Phoenician, Greek, Visigoth, and Christian Knight. The panels took ten years to complete.
