Zurab Tsereteli. "To the Struggle Against World Terrorism"

The famous Georgian-Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli created this magnificent 10 story high memorial that stands in Bayonne as memorial to those we lost during the 1993 and 2001 attacks against the World Trade Center. The memorial is officially called To the Struggle Against World Terrorism but is also affectionately called the Teardrop Memorial and the Tear of Grief. It was a gift from the wonderful people of Russia in commemoration of the attacks on 9/11 and was dedicated by President Clinton in 2006. The names of those who were lost are etched into the base. This month a four feet tall steel section of the WTC will be placed next to the sculpture.
