Artist Patrick McDonough created this art project as part of a collaboration between the Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) and Socrates Sculpture Park. This project was the culmination of a three month Public Art Residency Program for which McDonough is the second recipient since its founding in 2010. The prject is "McDonough's exploration of the awning as a key architectural adornment that is central to the domestic vernacular of the northeastern United States."
