Alexander Calder's Terrazzo Sidewalk
American sculptor Alexander Calder was commissioned to create this terrazzo sidewalk in 1970 that features a black and white parallel and diagonal lines and crescents pattern. At the time, this area of Madison Avenue between E 78th St & E 79th St housed three galleries owned by Robert Graham, Morton Rosenfeld and Calder's representative Klaus Perls. This is Calder's only sidewalk and terrazzo art work since he is mostly known for his massive sculpture pieces.
