Gustav Kraitz. "Hope"
Swedish sculptor Gustav Kraitz created this memorial to Raoul Wallenberg that stands a block away from the United Nations in Manhattan. Mr. Wallenberg went missing in Budapest, Hungary after saving many Jewish people during Hitler's invasion of Hungary. The stones that make up the base of this memorial are from a former Jewish ghetto in Budapest and there is a bronze suitcase that stands to one side with the initials RW on them.
